An integral part of our organisation, our volunteers come from all over Toronto and from a multitude of cultural and ethnic groups. Their roles vary depending on their abilities, interests and availability.

The goal of our Volunteer services is to improve the quality of life of Les Centres d’Accueil Heritage’s clients.

Volunteers, thanks to their initiative, allow our clients to remain independent and active participants in their community.

Our full-time coordinator of volunteer services, Jean Tété, assures the training of and support to our volunteers.  He is helped by a Volunteer Committee.

In addition to the services offered by our staff, volunteers are involved in the following activities:

  • Friendly Visiting
  • Telephone Assurance Calls
  • Escorts to various appointments
  • Palliative Care
  • Elderly Persons Centre: including arts & crafts, society games, chapel, bingo, newsletter
  • Food service
  • Board of Directors or a Board committee
  • Fund raising
  • ‘Chez Nous’ newsletter

Volunteer Committee members: Simonne Berry, Lise Devine, Jean Tété, Coodinator, Blanche Pahlawan and René Fitzgerald.

Volunteering is an excellent way to:

  • Put free time to good use
  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Live new experiences
  • Feel good about oneself and develop one’s self-esteem
  • Encourage personal development and
  • Share one’s knowledge and skills.

For more information on volunteering in French, please contact Jean Tété, our Volunteer Coordinator at 416 203-7933 or by email at jtete@caheritage.org
