Centre for Active Living (CAL)

While all of CAH’s services and programs in French aim to promote the quality of life of seniors and their caregivers by supporting their independence, the mission of CAH’s Centre for Active Living is to encourage seniors to remain active, pursue their interests and participate in the life of the Francophone community.Given the current situation, in-person activities at our CAL have been greatly reduced. We have had to rely on our newsletter La Gazette and the ZOOM platform to stay in touch with CAL’s members and seniors in the community.
Are you a senior Francophone? Vous pouvez lire le français?
In order to help you resources based on your interests, we have grouped by themes a selection of materials produced by the CAL. We encourage you to browse through our resources to read and/or print them for inspiration and entertainment. Simply click on the images in each page to view their larger version.

Are you a caregiver (parent or friend) ?
Print for your loved one some activities that might interest them, and leave the material in their mailbox with a little note, to show that you are thinking about them.

CAL’s CALENDARS of activities

See the ZOOM activities for the current month. Note that they are all led in French.
NOTE: Other CAL activities are normally involving face-to-face meetings. CAH is currently evaluating how to slowly open them up again for the summer 2021.

OUR PHYSICAL HEALTH

To stay in shape, we recommend NOTRE SANTÉ PHYSIQUE page with yoga and exercices clips, as well as print-ready activity sheets and some useful articles. Don’t forget: it’s the first step that counts!

OUR MENTAL HEALTH

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Our NOTRE SANTÉ MENTALE page offers meditations to relax and some articles with good tips to manage our anxieties (very real in times of pandemic).

TO WORK ON OURE BRAINS

To stay mentally alert, there’s a selection of games in our POUR TRAVAILLER NOS MÉNINGES pages. There is the page JEUX de cartes en solitaire, de dés ou casse-tête with solitary card games, dice fun and puzzles. In the JEUX de mots page, you will be able to put your French to the test.

FOR ENTERTAINMENT

In each Gazette is a COIN BRICOLAGE (with DIY crafts) and a COIN CUISINE, with recipes.
