Current status of CAH services

A fourth wave?

The 4th wave, which intensified just before the Christmas holidays, is now in full swing… New changes are now to be put in place, following the new restrictions under provincial guidelines. These changes are effective January 6, 2022 for at least 2 weeks.

The good news is that Place Saint-Laurent employees and residents have received their third injection (booster) on January 6, 2022. But for added security, ALL CLIENTS are encouraged to identify one particular caregiver, and LIMIT all VISITS as much as possible.

We need to be very careful for the benefit of our clients and staff members because of the high transmissibility of the virus. Until the situation improves, we also need to be prepared for human resource challenges in the event of a shortage. REMOTE WORK is encouraged for any staff member whose presence is not required.

Here is the current status of CAH services (as of January 6):

Adult Day Program in Toronto (ADP)
The ADP in Toronto is cancelled for 2 weeks.

Adult Day Program in Oshawa (ADP) 
The ADP in Oshawa is cancelled for 2 weeks.

Homemaking (HMK) 
In-person support services offered in the community are cancelled for two weeks (grocery shopping, accompaniments) except to accommodate clients with very complex needs. Virtual support will continue.

Supportive Housing (SH)
Supportive housing Supportive housing is maintained. We are implementing more specific protocols for the safety of clients and staff.

Community Meals 
The meals normally served in the dining room are also cancelled for two weeks.

Transport
Our transportation service is temporarily scheduled only for specific cases such as medical follow-ups.

Case Management and Caregiver Support
In-person Case Management is temporarily cancelled, except to accommodate clients with very complex needs. Virtual support will be maintained.

Reintegration Care Unit (RCU)
Our Reintegration Care Unit continues to be operational. We are implementing more specific protocols for the safety of clients and staff.

Centre for Active Living (CAL)
All in-person ALC (Active Living Centre) activities are cancelled. We will be increasing virtual activities.
